My name is Melissa. I'm 35 years old, a firefighter/EMT of  11 years, a marathon runner, and a Colorado mom raising three teenagers — 15, 14, and 12 — through some of the most challenging and transformative years of {all of our} lives.

​

I’ve built my life the hard way.

 

I put myself through college while working and raising kids, earning my Bachelor of Science in Fire Science Management. I’ve walked through challenging custody issues. I navigate coparenting struggles. I’ve rebuilt from emotional exhaustion, financial pressure, and seasons where I wasn’t sure how I was going to carry everything.

 

But I did.

 

And if you’re here, I’m guessing you’re figuring it all out too!

 

By career, I run toward emergencies. By life, I’ve learned to stand steady in the ones that don’t come with sirens. The fire service taught me composure under pressure. Motherhood taught me endurance. The mountains of Colorado remind me that strength is built by climbing.

 

I’m a marathon runner and marathons have become a metaphor for my life — long, demanding, and worth every mile. You don’t sprint through hard seasons. You pace yourself. You hydrate. You keep moving forward even when it hurts.

 

This space is for the single mom who feels like she’s holding the weight of everything.

 

It’s for the woman rebuilding after a custody battle or divorce.

 

For the mom navigating raising kids and teenage struggles. 

 

For the woman balancing career ambition, motherhood, friendships, and maybe even considering braving dating again.

 

Here, I share what I’ve learned — the things I wish someone would have told me, the lessons I’m grateful I knew, and the hard truths that make us stronger.
